Congratulations to
2009 recipients

Congratulations to this year’s recipients, Tom Hunt and
Mitchell Swain. Both are keen Certificate III Beef
students and are heavily involved in all aspects of the studs
operation at this school.
Tom Hunt is a
Boarder from the Upper Hunter, his family run a cattle and sheep
property East of Murrurundi. Tom is a keen horseman and a very
successful competitor. By achieving this scholarship Tom hopes
to gain further knowledge and experience in the beef industry
which he hopes will be a stepping stone into a promising future.
Mitchell
Swain is a Boarder from the Gunnedah District whose family run a
mixed farming property. Mitchell is a keen sportsman and has
always excelled with his Agricultural studies and is looking
forward to the tremendous opportunities that this scholarship
has to offer. He hopes to gain a higher position with Angus
Pastoral or continue in the industry as a Stock and Station
Agent.
Thankyou to
all students who applied for this years Scholarship, as the
decision certainly was not an easy one.
Also
thankyou once again to the Angus Pastoral company for their very
generous scholarship offer and the particular interest they have
in our school. This is a great opportunity and the School
encourages any students interested in a career in the Beef
industry or agriculture to apply.
Congratulations to 2008 recipients
Three year 12 students have been awarded the prestigious
Angus Pastoral Company scholarship for 2008. Last year, Blair and Josie Angus
made a special trip to Tamworth to interview all applicants and were so
impressed, decided to award an extra scholarship in 2008.
Congratulations to Luke Evans, Allister Hamilton and Scott Henry who each have secured a $4,000 scholarship for 2008 and a
working position within the company for 2009.
Luke Evans lives on the family property at Loomberah and is
a keen camp drafter in his spare time. At Farrer, his studies include Primary
Industries, Beef Production Certificate III and 2U Agriculture. Luke is planning
to make the most this opportunity to gain further experience in the cattle
industry and eventually would like to become a Stock and Station Agent.
Allister Hamilton is a boarder from Narromine whose family
run a mixed farming property. While Allister is a keen cattle handler at this
school he has also excelled with his studies. Allister gained a Band 6 in 2U
Agriculture in the 2007 HSC. He plans to use this opportunity as a 'gap' year
before continuing to university to study Agricultural Science / Business
management and hopes to become an Agriculture Teacher.
Scott Henry is also a boarder from Walcha where his family
run sheep and cattle. Scott is heavily involved in cattle handling and has
worked for other studs attending cattle at the RAS Royal Easter show. Scott
studies Primary Industries and Extension 2 U Agriculture and is a member of the Angus Breed Society. Likewise he will use this opportunity as a 'gap' year
before training to be an Agriculture teacher.
Bair and Josie Angus strongly encourage junior boys who
missed out to apply again this year. Likewise, any other student studying
Agriculture and or Primary Industries in Year 11 and seeking a career in
Agriculture should seriously consider this great opportunity for 2009.
