| What role do the farms play at Farrer? |

Number one is to provide a broad educational resource for our students that offer the opportunity for students to learn and practice skills at industry level.

Secondly to provide a source of income for the School.

| Extra Curricula activities – Out of school hours |
Steer feedlot
We buy, break and train 10-20 steers per year depending on conditions. Steers are broken and prepared for a number of Hoof & Hook shows. All proceeds are returned to the farm. This is carried out as an extra curricula activity only run by members of the Ag staff. Approx 30 students involved annually.
Judging and showing
Training for the following occurs twice per week for some and once for others terms 1, 2 and 3 and part of 4. Approx 85 students involved.
Pig carcasses, prime lambs, fleece judging, beef judging (hoof & hook), and dairy judging and showing.
